Section 4.1 Organizing Your Ideas
Before writing your help and training guide, you should think about the structure you want to display. Morph helpME automatically creates a multi-level navigation structure and expandable menu based upon the name of the chapters. Quickly sketch out the major themes and sub-themes for your guide. Once you have this outline, you are ready to create help pages.
Creating the navigation hierarchy
Morph helpME automatically creates your navigation hierarchy based upon the way that you number the chapters. You can create top level menu items by using 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. before you name your chapter. For example, in the Chapter field you could put 4. Getting Started. Morph helpME outlines your book according to the Chapter numbers you entered. If you numbered 3. Logging In, this will appear before 4. Getting Started on the final online help.
You can then create subsections that will be hidden until the end user expands the navigation menu (by clicking on the plus sign). To create subsections, you number the chapter with a decimal point and a new number. In our example, to create this page we created a Chapter called 4.1 Organizing Your Ideas. You can continue with this idea as much as you need by using 4.1.1 and 4.1.1.1 and so on.
For specific instructions on creating your hierarchy, please see Chapter 5 Using Pages.
