Section 2.2 Understanding Multi-tenancy

Although it sounds like a fancy technology term, multi-tenancy is extremely important when you evaluate Software as a Service applications. Multi-tenancy is the ability for one piece of software to serve the individual interests of multiple organizations. Multi-tenancy is an architectural principal of Software as a Service. In the traditional software model a single instance of a software application is installed and running by each customer on their own hardware. With multi-tenancy many customers are sharing an application instance that is virtually partitioned. It appears to each client that they are accessing their own application because they can customize their own branding and data. The most important aspect of multi-tenancy is how the system separates the data to ensure that it protects each individual from other users of the system.

Morph Labs approaches multi-tenancy in a way that allows each of our applications to act completely independent from one another while taking advantage of common services.

Morph helpME actually separates each site so that users, content, files, themes, and even cached information are independent from other Morph helpME sites. This means that your content won’t accidentally get mixed up with another site. It means that you can control the files that are uploaded, the comments, and the users. All without ever impacting another Morph helpME site.
