Section 2.1 The Value of Software as a Service

The Morph helpME application is delivered to you via the Software as a Service (SaaS) business model. This means that Morph Labs creates, maintains, and delivers the software for your use through the World Wide Web. The only technical requirement is that you have a browser-enabled computer connected to the Internet. The consumers of your help or training system can then access that information through the Internet practically anytime and anywhere.

No hardware to buy, no software to buy

Software as a Service reduces the burden and risk associated with many technology projects. The software as a service model enables you to quickly test drive the software. You don’t have to buy expensive servers, install clumsy software, configure environments or all of those other system administration tasks needed to just “play” with a solution. By using an application such as Morph helpME, you can create an account and start testing out the service in a matter of minutes with no risk and no out-of-pocket expenses.

Running on proven open source technologies

Underneath the Morph helpME application is a well-integrated stack of open source technologies providing the functionality needed to deliver a world class application. If you were to embark on creating your own online help system, you would first need to duplicate this technology stack on top of your own set of servers. You would then have to determine how to keep that technology stack up and running all the time including the ability to recover from a single point of failure. Sounds like a lot of work, when all you want to do is publish a help or training system. This is the beauty of Software as a Service. You can leave it up to a company such as Morph Labs to handle the system administration and technical services needed to keep the system up and running.
